If you’re a recent undergrad heading toward graduate territory, you’re probably working through the logistics of this transition.

In our experience, we’ve noticed that many graduate students prefer a more quiet, private space where they can study or relax. For CU students, that essentially translates as “far from University Hill,” a bustling and lively neighborhood known for constant activity, parties, and events.

That being said, grad students also need a place that is relatively close to campus. Although they won’t be in classes as much as they were during undergrad, many still have responsibilities on campus.

And last, but certainly not least, as a grad student, you’ll likely want to live comfortably – or at least, a step above your dorm and undergrad living environments. We’re talking amenities and conveniences to make life a little bit better – and that work/life balance clearer.

Keep in mind that, while University Hill is much closer to campus, it’s much better suited for undergrad students because of its constant activity.

We recommend checking out North Boulder (where a lot of CU Boulder Graduate Housing already exists) as well as East Boulder – an up-and-coming area that is still near campus.
